What this site is
BusinessEntityLookup.org is an independent guide to searching US business entity records. It is not a government website, a Secretary of State, a law firm or a registered agent. Official records are kept by each state, and our guides link to them.
No legal or tax advice
The guides explain how state searches and filings work in general. They are not legal, tax or financial advice for your situation. For a decision that matters, check with the state filing office or a licensed attorney or accountant.
Accuracy
We take each fee, rule and deadline from the state's own pages and show the source and check date. States change their rules, so always confirm on the official page before you file or pay. We are not responsible for a loss caused by a change we had not yet picked up.
The name check
The name check is a convenience. It looks the name up in our copy of the state's public register where we hold one, and otherwise opens the state's own search. Our copy is only as recent as the date shown with the results, and some state files leave out ended records. It does not reserve a name, and a result that looks clear is not an approval. Only the state decides when it accepts your filing.
Forms
When you send a form, you agree that we may reply to you and, if you ask for help forming a company, pass your request to a service that can help, as described in the privacy policy. Do not send anything you are not allowed to share.
Links
We link to state websites and other official sources. We do not control them and their own terms apply. If we add links to private services, they will be marked as sponsored.
Use of the site
You may read, print and share our pages for personal or business use. Do not copy the site in bulk, scrape it at a rate that slows it down, or present our guides as your own.
